I am from Sykesville, MD and I went to Marriotts Ridge High School. Currently, I am on the Pre-Nursing track here at the University of Maryland. The profession I am trying to pursue is an anesthetic-specialized nurse or a NICU nurse. Besides school, I am also an active member of the Korean Campus Ministry, serving as a co-leader of Publications.
When it comes to writing, I guess you could say that it is one of my weaknesses. It takes many drafts and rewrites for me to write a solid paper. In ENGL101s, I hope that we can write more discussion-based papers rather than research papers. Hopefully by taking this class, I can develop better writing and argumentative skills, and be able to deliver my thoughts into my papers.
Hey YooHee! We were partners in english during our first class! I think it's really interesting how you want to become a anesthetic-specialized nurse, that's really hard, isn't it? English is also a weakness for me, writing just doesn't seem to flow as easily for us math/science kids. Hopefully we'll be able to write better papers this semester thanks to english! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteHi, Yoohee! A lot of the readings I've chosen for our class are about doctors and people working in medicine and how they deal with the emotional impact of working with patients, so I hope those are of interest to you. We'll do drafting and peer-editing, and I have a feeling you'll be surprised by what you come up with over the course of the semester. I find that a lot of science people are somewhere along the line taught that they can't also be good at writing, but that's not necessarily true!
ReplyDeletehey yoohee, thats cool that you are doing nursing! I actually was all set to go to nursing school at Delaware last year but changed my mind and came to Maryland. I am sure you are going to do well in this english class because it sounds like you work really hard at it even if its not your strongest subject. Good luck in this semester seeya in class
